ThinkPlus™ and Lenovo CareSM Maintenance and Protection Services

Upgrade your original warranty, get maintenance service for post-warranty machines, or purchase accidental damage coverage.

Which service coverage is right for me?

If your ThinkPad® or Lenovo 3000 notebook, ThinkCentre® or Lenovo 3000 desktop system, or ThinkVision® monitor is still within its original warranty period, then you can upgrade your service with a warranty service upgrade.

If you want protection from unplanned expenses due to an accident under normal operating conditions with your notebook – such as a drop, electrical surge or spill – we offer ThinkPad and Lenovo 3000 Protection.

And if your notebook, desktop system or monitor is out of warranty, or you have an existing maintenance service that is about to expire, then post-warranty maintenance is right for you.

ThinkPlus and Lenovo Care Maintenance and Protection Services offer you a variety of service levels. Depending upon the specific machine model/type these may include:

  • depot or on-site service
  • accidental damage coverage
  • one year increments up to four years
  • next-business-day up to four-hour/same day response

Lenovo now offers international support on ThinkPlus and Lenovo Care Maintenance Services. To receive service in a particular country these services must be available in that country.

Upgrades are effective from the original date of hardware purchase, regardless of upgrade purchase date. For instance, if you purchased a machine on February 1, 2004, and then bought a four-year upgrade, your coverage will end on January 31, 2008.

ThinkPad and Lenovo 3000 Protection accidental damage coverage must be purchased within 30 days of your new ThinkPad or Lenovo 3000 notebook product order, and your service term begins concurrently with the product warranty.

Step 2:
Call 1-866-968-4465 for products and information or your local Lenovo business partner.

Step 3:
ACTIVATION - If you purchased your ThinkPlus and Lenovo Care Maintenance Services through your local business partner you will receive e-mail instructions from the business partner on how to activate the service. If you purchase your maintenance services by calling the Lenovo PC sales center, activation will occur at the time of purchase.

General service descriptions

In-warranty, business equipment
Warranty service upgrades for business use - Business equipment includes machines normally used for business, professional, or trade purposes.

We make it easy and convenient for you to extend your service coverage period, upgrade your level of service or both. We will provide these ThinkPlus and Lenovo Care warranty service upgrades to you only if you are acquiring these services:

  • For machines which are normally used for business, professional, or trade, rather than personal, family, or household purposes
  • For machines still within the original warranty period

  • National onsite service coverage
  • 24x7 telephone access to our technical support specialists

In-warranty, home equipment
Extended service contracts for personal use - Home equipment includes machines for personal, family or household purposes.

We make it easy and convenient for you to extend your service coverage period, upgrade your level of service or both. We're here when you need us, 24 hours a day, every day. If we can't fix your problem over the phone, we'll schedule onsite or depot repair, according to your level of service coverage.

Post-warranty, business equipment
With ThinkPlus and Lenovo Care maintenance services agreements you can be confident that we have the knowledge and resources to provide you with the hardware service you need for your post-warranty systems.

Protection service, home and business equipment

ThinkPad and Lenovo 3000 Protection accidental damage coverage provides you that added security of protecting your notebook investment from unplanned expenses caused by an accident under normal operating conditions such as a drop, electrical surge or spill. Accidental damage is not covered under the standard product warranty or extended warranty service plans.

ThinkPad and Lenovo 3000 Protection accidental damage coverage must be purchased within 30 days of your new ThinkPad or Lenovo 3000 notebook product order, and your service term begins concurrently with the product warranty.
