From ThinkPad Owners
When intending to use an unfamiliar projector to present with, ensure that it can display at the resolution you want. If it is not capable of higher resolutions you will have to settle for a lower resolution, possibly causing the layout of your presentation to be destroyed. Be prepared! As a backup in case something goes wrong, always carry sufficient numbers of printed copies of your presentation.

Additional Tips
Project your presentation onto a large white space/screen.
When possible, use applicable, graphically-filled Web sites in your presentation that will provide visual appeal and intrigue for the audience.
When using Web sites in your presentation, download the relevant parts of the sites to your hard drive; running the Web site directly from the Internet greatly increases your potential for problems during your presentation.
Use bullet points to keep presentation slides simple and to the point. Each slide of the presentation should contain no more than 6 bullet points with 6 or fewer words per bullet point.
Consistency is key! Choose your style, font, and color palette, and stick with it throughout your presentation. Vary your font size and style (Bold, Italics), but set standards to maintain consistency among titles, bullets, etc.
Your audience will remember approximately 5 points from your presentation. Give them a push towards remembering your key points by outlining the 5 most important points on the first slide of your presentation and building your presentation around it. This outline should also be used as your conclusion slide to the presentation.
